Cocaine Bear (2023)

Cocaine Bear is a film inspired by true events about various individuals getting maimed or killed by a drug-addicted bear.  Directed by the hit-or-miss director Elizabeth Banks . Don't get me wrong, I disliked 2019's Charlie's Angels heavily, but Pitch Perfect 2 was a movie I'll watch more than once. If I were her, I'd stick to what she was good at for acting like Brightburn , The Hunger Games, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin and then make movies similar to those .  Half the film follows Alden Ehrenreich and O'Shea Jackson Jr. and their quest to find all of the cocaine in the forest for their criminal boss. My thoughts on Han Solo from Ehrenreich have changed over the years of lackluster Star Wars films and tv. Jackson has only given me one bad performance and most people will recognize him from Straight Out of Compton.  He did well here dealing with all the misfortune his character had throughout the film. Keri Russel  plays the other half of this adventure fil

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the third film for Ant-Man and the first part of phase five of Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Directed by Peyton Reed , the same director for the first two films and modern comedy classics like Yes Man and 2000s Bring it On. It's difficult to get performances out of actors when all they can see is a green screen. Because of the volume of visual effects in this movie, it felt many times that the actors didn't know what was going on around them, which was a stark contrast from the first two Ant-man movies.  Written by Jeff Loveness, who is known for being Jimmy Kimmel's writer. Something I don't think most people would think is a good recommendation. The misfiring of the writing is felt when the comic relief doesn't land for half of the jokes. Don't get me wrong there was laughter in the theater but not due to the writing, instead just of how ridiculous MODOK looked. Paul Rudd  really phones it in on this performance. It f

Pathaan (2023)

Pathaan  is a Bollywood movie about an Indian secret agent who has to save his homeland from a group of mercenaries. Written and Directed by Siddharth Anand.  Anand takes a lot of his inspiration from the Mission Impossible and Fast and Furious franchises. If I'm wrong about that, then there certainly are a lot of similarities. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, who is   considered one of the four Ruling Khans of Bollywood. Some critics would call him the Tom Cruise of Bollywood, but in my eyes, they are totally different. He has a flair about him throughout the film that is unmistakably confident. He fits perfectly for this film as I wanted his character to succeed in saving the day. People interested in seeing eye candy will also enjoy this film because of him. Deepika Padukone  is the lead actress in the film and love interest opposite Shah. I first saw her in xXx: Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel. I can imagine she learned a lot from her experience in Hollywood, even if she

Knock at the Cabin (2023)

Knock at the Cabin  is about four people, all with a collective vision of the apocalypse, who take a family hostage and give them the ultimate decision to make. Director M. Night Shyamalan  brings a certain flair to the film. You know him from Six Sense, Split, and probably my favorite of his, Signs . I have only minor issues with his direction and it's mostly at the beginning with the dialogue scenes between the main villain and the child. There's nothing that really stands out in a positive way as the movie is very safe for a Shyamalan film in terms of direction. Also, I want to note this is not a horror film in any way. It's a thriller. Writing on the other hand he shares with Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman , both relative newcomers to the screenplay scene, who won plenty of awards for their   short film Monsters. The writing has some good notes and some bad ones. Let's start with the bad ones. The film fails to make a convincing argument for this apocalypse bei
