In a Violent Nature (2024)

In a Violent Nature is a horror movie similar to Friday the 13th about a supernatural killer who you watch from behind through most of the film.

Written and directed by Chris Nash for Shudder, the film is his first feature. He had done some shorts in the past and a segment for ABCs of Death 2. While the direction was an interesting choice, the film suffers heavily in dialogue and pacing. It could be more exciting and engaging for the average audience. Collider said it was "Unique and Gruesome" but some of the kills were not shown and nothing worse than Saw or Nightmare on Elm Street.

There aren't really any actors worth talking about. None of them have been in anything worth seeing, or anything anyone has seen. Exaggerations aside, it's their delivery of the poor dialogue that really makes the film feel stale and boring.

If you have ever wondered: what did Jason do between killing those camp counselors, this is the film for you. The film isn't scary for a horror fan, i.e. someone who would actually watch the film. Result: D

Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

Avatar: The Way of Water  is the followup to James Cameron's original box office winner Avatar. Continuing Jake Sully's story, now protecting his family from Colonel Miles Quaritch again. Written and directed by James Cameron . The worst parts of the writing probably came from the writers of Mulan, both Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. In terms of direction, there was the expectation that Cameron would recreate some sort of magic of Avatar, Terminator 2, or even Aliens. I think Cameron gave the skeleton of the story and Jaffa and Silver added their own dialogue and beats. Cameron doesn't really write boring movies and I was bored through parts of the film. 3 hours and 12 minutes is a long time to have amazing dialogue and writing. Sam Worthington is back but you don't recognize him since he was barely in the first film except in his avatar form. Most people don't know Worthington. Maybe if you played the Call of Duty Black Ops games as he played Alex Mason. I most...

Escape Room (2019)

Escape Room  is presented as a Saw-like game of puzzle solving or your life ends. This time around they remove the gore to get a PG-13 rating and a January release. Adam Robitel is best known as the director of Insidious: The Last Key. Which I 'saw' and meh'd about last year. He also did Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension which I haven't seen. I stopped watching the Paranormal movies after The Marked Ones. There are some camera/direction problems nothing an average movie-goer would notice. Taylor Russell plays the main character Zoey. Don't take any offense, but she has a really hard time going full Aspergers, but once she turns Lara Croft she does a decent job. She also did the over-looked Lost in Space TV series which I still need to watch. I want to see Deborah Ann Woll in more movies after seeing her in this. She was a shining star in this film. She plays a former military survivor with a lot of baggage. You'll remember her as Karen Page from ...

The Beekeeper (2024)

The Beekeeper is an action movie released in the dumping ground for movies.  David Ayer  has a good amount of movies under his belt and the production of this film didn't have the faith to really put any marketing behind it, especially with the risk of using Emmy Raver-Lampman , who overacted her way through Umbrella Academy . Ayer notoriously had issues with production with Suicide Squad and this just cements the fact that Ayer can't carry a film by name alone. The film had a solid action writer in Kurt Wimmer  but the scenes that were supposed to be dialogue-heavy or character-developing were lacking. Wimmer  wrote  Equilibrium, Expend4bles , the Point Break and Total Recall remakes, and the bizarre Ultraviolet . There is some pretty cringe-worthy dialogue and there are some weird allusions to both Donald Trump and Joe Biden with the son of the president even snorting coke in the white house. Jason Statham plays the Beekeeper, basically James Bond ...
