PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (2023)

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie is an animated family movie based on the TV show of the same name.

Turns out this is the second PAW Patrol movie. Written and directed by Cal Brunker, who returns from the first film. He also wrote and directed the underappreciated Escape from Planet Earth. Regarding children's movies, it was pretty safe and played to the rulebook when creating a modern movie for 2023. Although you don't expect much from the film, the target audience is still learning how to speak. My 1 year old loved it.

There are some voice actors that you might recognize, James Marsden, Kristen Bell, North West, and Taraji P. Henson. The rest are the typical cast of the PAW Patrol. There's not much to really critique as each person brought the typical performance for this type of movie. I hardly even noticed any of the actors with the exception of Henson.

It entertained my kid, but I wouldn't say it had a lot for the adult audience to enjoy like the '90s and '00s Disney and Illumination films would have done. Result: C

Cinderella (2021)

Cinderella is a modern take on the classic tale. This time everything is politically upside down. Written and Directed by Kay Cannon,   Cinderella takes any chance it can to push an agenda. It's nauseating in the forcefulness of the propaganda. It's hard to take any scene that isn't singing seriously. It lives in a dystopian world where anyone who doesn't think progressively like-minded is a fool and shouldn't have joy. The direction is okay, but that's to be expected as she probably picked up some being the producer of the Pitch Perfect trillogy. Camila Cabello  plays Cinderella and her first major film. She can sing and performs well next to her stepmother played by Idina Menzel, who needs no introduction. Surely, she will be in future musicals and I can only hope for one with a better writer. Pierce Brosnan  plays King Rowan and is forceful in his performance but given the point of his character, it's sad to see. Someone had to be the punching bag, and ...

Glass (2019)

Glass  is the final in the Unbreakable trilogy. This time Mr. Glass finally sees his masterminded plot to fruition. Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan , Glass is about...well it's about these superheroes. They are supposed to be, at least that's the question throughout the film. It's a hesitation that really cuts the film down from being better. Bruce Willis  returns as David Dunn from Unbreakable. He's better in this than he has been as of recent. That's not saying much, he doesn't really do much of importance. Samuel L. Jackson  returns as Mr. Glass who for most of the film he's just sitting there doing nothing. The film is called class but really it's more about James McAvoy's character in the first half of the movie. James McAvoy plays the same characters from Split. He's great at changing over and switching between them but I got enough of that in Split. After a while, I was just waiting for other characters to d...

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (2023)

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3  is the third installment in the Big Fat Greek franchise, this time they're in Greece.  Written, directed, and starring Nia Vardalos, just like the previous films. Now she is being asked to become the head of the family. I imagine if they do a fourth installment that like the other sequels they will never live up to the first one and will have throwbacks you've come to expect now with any sequel. Paris is back, played by Elena Kampouris , she's pretty but her beauty isn't going to draw a crowd, and her counterpart, Elias Kacavas, isn't going to bring in the crowd looking for young eye candy. Both of them haven't been in much and their future doesn't look great either. Stephanie Nur  is a newcomer to this franchise and you might recognize her from 1883  as Melodi. She does a pretty good job with the role that was designed for her. She's not heavily utilized but that was because the franchise has become an ensemble.  Melina Kot...
