Sofia Coppola daughter of Francis Ford Coppola wrote and directed this film with the help of Sandra Harmon and Priscilla Presley herself. She also has cousins named Jason Schwartzman and Nicolas Cage but that's just a bit of trivia. She also directed one of my favorite romances, Lost in Translation.
The woman who plays Priscilla is Cailee Spaeny, she transforms into Priscilla pretty well. I forgot for most of the film that she was in Pacific Rim: Uprising and Bad Times at the El Royale. She has a movie coming out that I'm pretty excited to see called Civil War directed by Alex Garland as well as Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus. So keep this movie in mind when deciding to go see those next year.
Jacob Elordi does a decent Elvis impression but he doesn't have the charisma. He was in that Euphoria TV show which explains why all my students want to see Priscilla. I still need to see him in Saltburn but that can wait. He's not a lead and for good reason. He tended to overact in most of his scenes.
The movie does a good job explaining Priscilla's side of the story but there really wasn't much to be surprised about as most people over thirty-five probably know the story but this does a good job for future generations to know. Result: B-
