Patrick Wilson has been in a lot of James Wan's films. This is his first attempt at directing. He doesn't do too bad of a job either. You might recognize him from the other Insidious movies and The Conjuring, he's also Nite Owl in Watchmen, and King Orm from Aquaman. In terms of acting he has to deal with a lot in the film as a father who has sort of lost his mojo. Solid performance and good entry into directing.
Ty Simpkins played Dalton in 2010 and again here in the latest Insidious. It's nice to see that child actors can sometimes still end up as good actors when they get older. You might recognize him from Jurassic World as Gray, or Harley Keener in Iron Man 3 and Avengers: Endgame.
Newcomer Sinclair Daniel did a great job but had a line when she was being introduced that was totally unnecessary and just woke. She was believable and likable after that. She's also gorgeous which doesn't hurt. She hasn't done much and this is her first movie, though she's done some TV series.
The result for Insidious: The Red Door is a B-. It's above average for a horror movie in 2023.
